Melt 1/2 cup butter and unsweetened chocolate in a large saucepan.
Blend sugar, 1 teaspoon of the vanilla, egg, graham cracker crumbs, coconut and nuts into the chocolate/butter mixture. Mix thoroughly.
Press mixture into a 9x9 pan; then refrigerate.
Cream 1/4 cup of the butter, milk, confection sugar and the other teaspoon of vanilla.
Spread over the crumb mixture, then refrigerate.
Melt German chocolate and 1 teaspoon of butter. Spread evenly over mixture in 9x9 pan, then refrigerate.
Cut into squares before completely firm.
